BURNT OFFERING REVIEW

Welcome to a new week. If you or your kids have started back to school, have a good year. And don't forget to read those great books. If you don't have a weak stomach, here's a good novel to take a look at. It is sad because history shows that the events are mostly true. Happy Reading!

BURNT OFFERING

By Vivian Zabel

If you want to read a story that will bring tears to your eyes and also make you angry, take a look at BURNT OFFERING by Vivian Zabel. This is a novel that will stay with me for a long time. It’s sad, yet it has its moments of happiness, too. In this story, based on research, we see the evil side of humanity. Anyone who can watch their baby being burned alive is beyond me. Thank heavens we also see the good side. The author describes the scenes so vividly that I almost felt like I was there, experiencing what the characters were feeling.

The novel also shows the bravery of those who fought this evil to protect their children and stop the slaughter. The author’s research brings the story to life and makes me thankful for the brave people that fought against these horrible deeds. And now, as I watch the violence in today’s world over the TV, I wonder if we’re so far away from the past. I pray so.

I recommend BURNT OFFERING.

  3. No, I couldn’t read that, Beverly. I made the mistake years ago of reading The Naked Island, a person’s experiences as a p.o.w. in Changi, and
it lives with me still 🌹

    1. I understand, lostinimaginaryorlds. You have a tender heart. I seldom read this type of story, but the author is a friend and did a lovely job of writing it. Give me my MG and Teen stories. I'm just a kid at heart.

  4. Awful what people are capable of and it doesn't seem like we have gone that far, just got better at hiding it.

  5. Oh this sounds tragic. It sounds like it is very well written too. My heart can't always take stories that are this gruesome- but once in a while I stray there. Thanks for sharing.

    1. It is well written, Jess, and gruesome too since a lot of it is based on historical facts. It has pleasant moments too. Not what I normally read, but it fascinated me.

    1. Yes, evil does exist, Karin. In the past and the present. And Vivian researched her information so it is accurate.

    1. That would be a horrible way to go, Powdered Toast Man. And how anyone can be that inhuman... Thanks for stopping by and following. Nice to meet you.
