THE INVADERS

The joys of living in the country.

I've been invaded.
Spiders and Scorpions.
I guess they don't like the hot days we've been having, so they came inside. I've been spraying poison, but have to be careful because of the kitties. You know how nosy they are, wanting to inspect everything I do.
Now I have nothing against the critters, until they attack my territory. Then, it's war. Not sure who'll win this one.

I have to say something that's kind of funny. Happy, the dog, was barking one evening, so I went outside to see what was upsetting him. He was watching something on the patio  and just having a fit. So, I took a look and it was a scorpion. He was warning me, I think. I'm wondering if one stung him at some point, and he recognized the thing that did it. That's a guess on my part. Who says he's not a good watch dog?

Anyhow, have a great week.

  1. Spiders I can handle but the scorpions would have to go. We used to get them in the house when I lived in Arizona.

    1. Spiders don't bother me so much, Alex, unless they're bigger than my hand which the one I killed was. The scorpions though are dangerous. I'm on the attack.

  2. Thank God we don't have scorpions here. At least not that I've seen.

    1. We've never had them in the house like we have this year, Diane. I guess it's because the weather has been unusually hot.

  3. I just get invaded by a few ants. Not too many now. And animals in my yard who ate my vegetable garden this year.

    1. Ants are a pest too, Natalie. Oh, yes, rabbits and such love a garden. My son didn't plant one this year. It's been too hot. Haven't even seen but a couple of rabbits. They must have gone somewhere else.

  4. Spiders we get some, but no scorpions here, thankfully. If they were, yeah, they gotta go.

    1. The thing about scorpions, Pat, is that they have a painful sting and they can crawl up on the furniture. Spiders don't bother me that much, except when they're in the house.

  5. Scorpions? Yikes! I saw one once when I was little. I'm glad they aren't around here.

    1. I hope you don't ever see another one, Chrys, because they have a painful sting.

  6. Oh my goodness! I can deal with spiders without an issue. We have tons. Scorpions, on the other hand, would be a major issue. Good luck evicting them from the premises!

    1. I know, Karin. Spiders don't worry me so much, but scorpions can be painful. I've been spraying some, but can't use too much poison because of the kitties.

  7. Scorpions are definitely a lot scarrier than spiders (to me). I actually like spiders. There aren't scorpions where I live- so I would have to learn about them. Glad your pup helped you. :)

    1. Yes, they are, Jess. I've never had scorpions in the house before. Hope to never have them again, once I get rid of these. Guess they're found in hot dry locations. Don't know how they get in the house though.

  9. My sentiments, took, New Release Books. I don't mind the insects as long as they stay outside. I've gotten rid of most of them. I hope.
