NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY

Welcome to a new week. Hope your weekend was awesome. Yesterday, July 15 was National Ice Cream Day. I had no idea there was such a thing, but since ice cream is one of my favorite desserts or snacks I had to check it out, even a day late.

In 1984, the late President Ronald Reagan, who really liked ice cream, designated the third Sunday of July as National Ice Cream Day. This is one holiday I shall enjoy participating in. I discovered oodles of places Online to get "free" ice cream that day. Good deal.

When I was a kid money was tight and my dad often made our ice cream in an ice cream churn similar to this. It took awhile, but the end result was worth the wait.

Do you enjoy a dish of ice cream now and then, or everyday?
What is your favorite flavor?
My favorite is vanilla, topped with chocolate syrup, in an ice cream cone. I'd show you a picture, but I already ate it. Yummy!

Have a great week.

Happy Eating, um, I mean reading.

    1. Ice cream is refreshing these hot days, Yvonne. Our temperature at the moment is 102 degrees. Thank heavens for air conditioning. The cat won't come inside. I thought he was smart.

    2. Beverly my laptop is at the laptop hospital. Internet running slow due to the fault on my landline. Hope to get it back Monday but not holding my breath. Take care.

  2. Being a vegan, I do miss real ice cream. My grandfather used to make it like that in a bucket and it was the best ice cream in the world.

    1. It was good back then, Diane. I take it by spells, will eat some every day for a while. Then none for a while.

  4. Never even knew there was a day at our sea either. Or at least didn't recall it. Always hated ice cream though. Never had a taste for it.

    1. I didn't know it either, Pat, until I read about it. We have a lot of don't care for ice cream people here.

  7. I used to like ice cream, although not as much anymore. My dessert of choice these days is a cookie. Any cookie. But in my ice cream days, my very favorite was coffee ice cream. Unbeatable flavor.

    1. Now that sounds good, Elizabeth. A cookie with ice cream. Yes, I am a sugar addict. I've never tried coffee ice cream. May have to do that.
