COMPANY AND REVIEWS

Quote for the week:
“When you think things are bad,
when you feel sour and blue,
when you start to get mad...
you should do what I do!
Just tell yourself, Duckie,
you're really quite lucky!
Some people are much more...
oh, ever so much more...
oh, muchly much-much more
unlucky than you!”
― Dr. SeussDid I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?

Hope you had a great weekend. I did. My youngest son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter came for a visit. It's been a long time since I saw them.  They're likely in the air this moment, or soon will be, on their way home. (This was 2 PM Sunday) So Dr. Seuss' quote about being "lucky" (for having such a lovely family) applies to me. Does it to you, as well?

On the other side, I'm not so happy with a book seller. I'm not complaining, just telling it like it is. My once-upon-a-time favorite book store, where I purchased a lot of books and posted many reviews, deleted all of my reviews, without telling me they did or explaining why. I wrote a letter asking for an explanation. Five days have passed with no response, so I have little choice. And this is for those of you that I have posted reviews at this store, those are gone, even my verified purchases. I may stop reviewing. Not sure. If I keep on, they'll be posted at Barnes and Noble, Library Thing, and Good Reads, like they are now, as well as on my blog. I'm not happy with them and will close my account. Yeah, that won't break their bank account, but I will feel better.

Now, smile. It's not the end of the world. Remember Dr. Seuss with the right attitude. I do think they're rude for not answering my mail. Their privilege.

Enjoy the week. Stay cool. We're still having temperatures in the hundred plus degrees. 108 at the moment. I'm thankful for air conditioning.

Happy Reading!

  1. And you won't get an answer either, most likely, as they are doing it to many. Great when family comes to visit indeed. Seuss is always a win.

    1. Nope. I no longer expect one, Pat. A good link was put on Face Book that explains what's happening. It seems to be happening to lots of people.
Yes, I don't see my family often. They're so far away. We had a good visit.

  2. That's wonderful your family visited.

What's with Amazon deleting so many valid reviews? There are other places to leave book reviews though.

    1. Yes, Diane. It was great seeing them.
A good link was put on Face Book that explains what they're doing. It doesn't make me feel any better. I can email it to you if you want. Too long to post here.

  3. Dr. Seuss always has great advice:) Very frustrating on the review front when you have put so much time into it. Unacceptable!

    1. He is so good, Karin. I should listen to his advice. :)
The sad thing about the Amazon problems is that it's happening to lots of people, including authors. I'm not going to mess with it.

  4. I'm sorry to hear this. Reviewers put a lot of time into reading the book and posting feedback. That has to be so frustrating for you.

FWIW, I've read similar complaints from other reviewers as well. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for Amazon's decisions to cut reader feedback. I just published a book and I inch a little further on the edge of my seat every time I read about another review being deleted. I hope mine won't be targeted. I only have twelve and it took two months to get those, LOL. Geez, what's a writer to do?

    1. Yes, Andrea. It's happening to a lot of people. A good article was posted on Face Book explaining what Amazon's reasoning is. The link is too long to add here, but it's on Face Book, or I can send it to you. There's really nothing we can do.
I hope you reviews stay there. Yeah, that's tough. It takes so long to get the reviews then they vanish in seconds. Anyway, thanks for stopping by.

    1. Ha, ha. Well, not exactly, Yvonne. But now that you mention it... So sorry you're having troubles one after the other. It makes missing reviews not so important. I have to remind myself what really is important. Hope all is calming down for you. Hugs.

    1. Thanks, Natalie. The time was too short, but I enjoyed every minute with the family.
Yes, but I'm not the only one. Others have started taling about their reviews being deleted. Nothing I can do about it except Amazon will no longer get my reviews. I'm sorry for the authors who lost them because I know how hard it is to get reviews. That's life. Barnes and Noble gets my business now. Have a lovely day.

    1. Thanks, Darby. It was wonderful Those grand kids grow up too fast. As for Amazon, who is that? I'll continue to put my reviews other places as well as buy books other places. I know they're heart broken. Hope they leave you alone.

  8. How upsetting that all of your reviews were taken down. That is not right. I hope you heard back from them and that that work with you to get them back up. I can totally understand how you feel! :(

    1. Thank you, Jess. I am no longer reviewing on Amazon. I am no longer purchasing books from them either. Of course, I'll still support my own books. They sent me a for letter, explaining that fair reviews could not be given if they were your friends, publishers, etc. In other words, they inferred my reviews were biased, but they were for books written by people I barely knew, as well. Their word is final. So, I just ordered a couple of books from Barnes & Noble. I know, losing my business will not bankrupt them. But I will feel better. Sorry for this long comment. But I'm insulted at their insinuations. Have a lovely week.
