Welcome to another Monday. The weekends sure fly by in a hurry. Today, I have the pleasure of introducing you to Author James J Crofoot. I think you'll find him quite interesting. Here's what he has to say about his life, writing, and his debut YA novel THE JOURNEYS OF A DIFFERENT NECROMANCER. Enjoy.

James Crofoot, a recent graduate of Gotham Writing College, has written stories all his life. Holding two degrees, he's now starting to put his works out. For more reading visit his website.

Hi, James . Welcome to my blog. Please tell us about yourself and how you became a writer.
Schooler, Traveller (sea and land), Studier of a martial way. Reader. Writer. Had my first book published by the school librarian in 4th grade. She put it on the shelf. I've always written. Historical fiction as a child and then sci fi. Then, fantasy. Always, before I knew how to write I was scribbling stuff on paper, and telling the story I'd written to my little sister.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Believe it or not, until I reach the tender age of 14, I was well on my way to West Point. You know, the 'premier' military school. Still had the writing thing in mind for later in life though. Then my eyes became opened to fantasy.

How did you come up with the idea for your book and were there any glitches along the way?

Everywhere. I walk a lot in the morning, in the dark and I'll just see things. A fence, or see an old house. Ideas just pop into my head most of the time. This book started out as a rather short 2500 word piece though. Then those What If's started coming.

You’re shipwrecked on a deserted island. What character from a book other than yours would you want to be stranded there with you? Why?
Red Sonja, for those of you old-schoolers. I'm a sucker for those girlies who can take care of themselves.

If we peeked inside your closet, what would we see?
Books. You would find a whole lot of books and if you look real close, the ghosts of more books.

Tell us your favorites:
Movie Rollerball, 70's version with James Cann.

Actor Steve McQueen

Actress Keera Knightly

Book No question, The Hobbit

Singer or Led Zepplin (Tolkien fans, too.)

Coffee or tea? Coffee

Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter? Winter! Loved Alaska.

If you could have super powers what would you wish for? Invention. Like Batman.

If you could choose to live in another time, would you prefer the past or the future?
Past. Rome in the beginning.

Are you working on any new books now? Tell us about them.

Oh, I've so many stories. The thing I'm working on now is the tale of an Earl and his Elvish wife. The Earl's family castle has stood on the border of the Elvish Empire for three generations, generations of peace. The Elvish princess of the empirical court falls in love with Earl Briston and they marry. Together they face the hardships of keeping The House Briston alive in the political turmoil of the human Emperor's and the war they're forced into.

Where can your fans learn more about you?

Would you like to share anything else with your fans? The thing that brings me the greatest joy is when people enjoy my writing. If it makes you think, if it makes you laugh or cry, please tell me. There's more to come!

Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to visit with us, James. Stop by anytime.

About the Book

By James J. Crofoot

Thomas wanted to learn to read and write, things only Xavier the Necromancer could teach. But Thomas learned much more. He learned to raise the dead. Then, with his knowledge, he set out for the distant sea. Along the way, he made an army, encountered a dragon, and fought thieves by the score. But, could he continue to use the knowledge Xavier gave? Could he hold to his teacher's views that all people were self-centered, greedy, and jealous of him for being so much better? Could he return to the obsidian tower to live a life where the world was locked out, where his teacher had kept all life away to simply be left alone? Where no one ridiculed and beat him for being different? Could he return to a life where only the undead, his risen, kept him company?

Happy Reading
