PLAYING CARDS GIVEAWAY UPDATED and #INKRIPPLES

Quote for the week: Love begins by taking care of the closest ones-the ones at home. Mother Teresa

Okay, the other way to enter the contest for the playing cards below was not working out. So, I'm trying Rafflecopter. Never used it before. My fingers are crossed it works. If not ... I apologize. Maybe it will be easier to enter the contest with something most people are familiar with. (Except me.) Thank you to Dancing Lemur Press and L. Diane for this great idea.

How about some #InkRipples now. Good, I'm glad you said "Yes."

#InkRipples is a monthly meme created by Kai Strand, Mary Waibel, and Katie L. Carroll. They post on the first Monday of every month with a new topic. They're all authors, but you don't have to be to participate. Simply compose your post using the monthly theme, grab one of the mages, and link back to Kai, Mary, and Katie. Make sure to use @inkripples when you play along and promote your posts. The idea is to toss a word, idea, or image into the inkwell and each post is a new ripple.

The themes for the rest of the year are:
July:    Inspiration
August:   Guilty Pleasures
September:  Banned Books
October:  Masks
November:  Heritage
December:  Cookies

Inspiration - from Merriam-Webster Dictionary
1 a : a divine influence or action on a person believed to qualify him or her to receive and communicate sacred revelation b : the action or power of moving the intellect or emotions c : the act of influencing or suggesting opinions.

Inspiration to me means several things.

It might be a new idea for a story.
It might be something my sons or grandchildren say or do that makes me realize how blessed I am to have a wonderful family and inspires me to be a better mother and grandmother.
Sometimes I read an article in the newspaper about a good deed a person has done for a friend, family member, or even a stranger, and I'm inspired to do something to help others too.
The world around me, the trees, flowers, rabbits, birds, and all of God's creation inspire me to appreciate nature and take care of the little critters as best I can by feeding them when necessary and keeping the cats in the house when dozens of little toads are hopping about in the driveway. (True story.)
I could go on and on, but I won't bore you. Inspiration is all around us. We just have to look.
What does inspiration mean to you?

Happy Reading!

  1. Dozens of toads? Was it raining?
I wasn't crazy about using a Rafflecopter, but it does seem the best way.

    1. It rained during the night. I haven't seen the toads since. We have a pond so they may have gone there. I kept the cats in the house that day, just in case.

    1. It sure is, Pat. Haven't seen them since. There's a lot of places they can go, maybe to the pond.

    1. My problem was that I had no entries, Diane. That's sad. Hide my head in embarrassment. So I'm trying the Rafflecopter. We'll see.

  5. Rafflecopter is my number one way to hold a giveaway. I find it easier for myself and for people to enter.

    I'll enter your giveaway, Beverly!

    1. I think I might like it, Chrys, except I couldn't get the link to Good Reads to work. Maybe I'll figure out what I did wrong. :)
Thanks for entering. Yay! I have an entry.

  6. You're right about keeping those cats inside! Hopping toads would be too hard for them to ignore. :-)

    1. Absolutely, C Lee. Patches is a hunter. She's brought me lots of rats this summer. Tiger is a looker. He just sits there and looks at the critters.

    3. He is pretty laid-back. He has health problems. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

    1. It sure is, Kelly. Sometimes we forget to be thankful for our blessings. Then I see something horrible on the news, which reminds me.

  9. Hi, Beverly. Good post. I have been inspired by the lives of my ancestors to write some of my stories. I've entered lots of contests using Rafflecopter, but I've never had one on my blog before. Maybe I'll get brave some day, too.

    1. Thanks, Janet. I love learning about our ancestors. They are great inspiration. It took me awhile to figure out how Rafflecopter worked. Still am not sure about parts of it. Have a lovely weekend.
