  1. These photos and commentary open up so many questions I barely know where to start but I'd definitely say there's some intriguing family history here! Happy birthday to your mom!

    1. Hi Karen. Yes, many people like my mother have their stories to tell. We just have to find them. I first heard about the Orphan Trains in a newspaper article I read. I started putting facts I knew together and discovered a little of my mother's past. I'll never know it all, but my book, loosely based on her story is scheduled for a winter release.

    1. Yes, Pat, her life was interesting and sad. In my genealogy research I learned about her brothers and sisters, and even met one sister when we went to South Carolina, where she lived.

    1. Yes, Susanne. A few years ago I discovered that my mother rode an Orphan Train (as it's called today) to Texas. And my grandparents were actually her foster parents, not birth parents. My story, loosely based on her life is scheduled for a winter release. Maybe.
